  • 2 cups sour cherries (pitted)
  • 2.5 cups flour

  • 1.5 cups sugar

  • 1 glass of milk

  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 packet of baking powder

  • 1 packet of vanillin sugar

  • A pinch of salt


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a medium-sized cake tin or line with greaseproof paper.
  • Mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  • In another large bowl, whisk the sugar and eggs well.
  • Add the melted butter and vanillin sugar and mix.
  • Add the milk and whisk the mixture until smooth.
  • Add the dry ingredients and mix with a spatula or wooden spoon.
  • Carefully add the cherries and mix until you get a homogeneous consistency.
  • Pour the batter into a greased or greaseproof paper lined cake tin.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
