Ingredients

  • 4 pieces of chicken breast

  • 200 grams of string cheese (grated)

  • 1 cup spinach (chopped)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme (optional)

  • 4 slices of ham or smoked turkey

  • 1 tbsp grated parmesan cheese

Directions

  • Cut the chicken breasts into thin slices and beat them by laying cling film on them. Place the pounded chicken on a flat surface.
  • Mix grated string cheese, chopped spinach, garlic powder, salt, pepper and olive oil in a bowl. Spread this filling evenly over the chicken slices.
  • Cover each chicken slice with a slice of ham or smoked turkey. Wrap the rolls and secure them with toothpicks.
  • Place the rolls on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper. Sprinkle fresh thyme on them and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese.
  • Bake the chicken rolls in a preheated 180°C (350°F) oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Serve hot and serve with a side of vegetable rice or green salad.

Notes

  • When beating the chicken breast slices, make sure that each slice is of equal thickness. Thus, your chicken will cook faster and homogenously.
  • While preparing the stuffing, take care to use string cheese, spinach and spices in a balanced way. You can adjust the spices such as salt, black pepper and garlic powder according to your taste.
  • After forming your chicken rolls, resting them in the refrigerator will help the filling to combine harmoniously with the chicken. This stage allows the flavour to penetrate more deeply.
  • Secure your chicken rolls with toothpicks while wrapping and before putting them in the oven. This will ensure that the rolls keep their shape and prevent them from falling apart during cooking.
  • Preheat the oven before placing your chicken rolls in the oven. During cooking, cook in a controlled manner until the rolls are well browned.
  • Let the chicken rolls rest for a few minutes after removing from the oven. After slicing, sprinkle with fresh thyme or grated parmesan and serve.
  • You can adapt the filling according to personal preferences. Customise the recipe by adding different types of cheese, spices or ingredients.
  • By following these tips, you can make your chicken rolls more flavourful and visually appealing. Happy cooking and bon appetit!
