  • 2 cups black beans (boiled)

  • 1 red onion (chopped)

  • 2 cloves of garlic (crushed)

  • 1 green chilli (chopped)

  • 1 red chilli (chopped)

  • 1 yellow chilli (chopped)

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 tbsp chipotle chilli sauce

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • Salt and black pepper (according to your taste)

  • Fresh coriander or parsley (optional, for garnish)


  • Boil the black beans in advance or shorten the preparation time by using tinned black beans.
  • Heat the oil in a large frying pan. Add the chopped red onion and fry until transparent.
  • Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Add chopped green, red and yellow chillies. Cook over low heat until the vegetables soften.
  • Add boiled black beans and mix.
  • Add chipotle chilli sauce, cumin, salt and pepper and mix. You can adjust the chipotle sauce according to your own bitterness preference by increasing or decreasing.
  • When all ingredients are well mixed, remove from the stove.
