How to Make Crawfish Cornbread Recipe
Crawfish Cornbread Recipe
2 cups of corn flour
1 water glass whole wheat flour
1 packet of baking powder
Half a tea glass of extra virgin olive oil
1 cup grated fresh corn
200 grams of boiled and chopped crayfish
Half a glass of yoghurt
1 teaspoon salt
Half tea glass finely chopped spring onion
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and prepare a tray lined with greaseproof paper.
- In a mixing bowl, mix the cornflour, whole wheat flour and baking powder well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and add the extra virgin olive oil. Add the yoghurt and salt and mix.
- Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and mix with a spatula until you get a homogenous dough.
- Add the grated fresh corn, chopped celery and finely chopped spring onion. Mix the mixture gently.
- Pour the dough onto a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper and flatten.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until the top is nicely browned. You can check the doneness with a toothpick test.
- After resting the bread out of the oven, slice and serve. If you want, you can garnish it with fresh herbs.
- Fresh Ingredients: Pay attention to the freshness of the ingredients you will use when making crawfish corn bread. Especially fresh corn and crayfish significantly affect the flavour of the bread.
- Homogenous Mixture: When preparing the mixture, be sure to mix the dry and wet ingredients thoroughly. This ensures that the bread has a homogenous texture.
- Oven Control: Make sure that you set the temperature of your oven correctly. When baking the bread, you want the top to be nicely browned and the inside to be cooked.
- Toothpick Test: Use a toothpick test to check if the bread is cooked. Insert the toothpick into the centre of the bread, and a clean toothpick indicates that the bread is fully cooked.
- Resting Time: After removing the bread from the oven, let it rest for a while. This allows the interior to tighten and the flavour to settle well.
- Personalisation: You can customise the recipe according to your own taste. You can add originality to the recipe by adding spices, herbs or additional ingredients.
- Serving Temperature: Serving the bread warm helps to keep the inside soft. You can serve it immediately after slicing or warm it up as desired.
