  • 1 cup of thin bulgur

  • 1 onion (grated)

  • 2 cloves of garlic (crushed)

  • Half a glass of breadcrumbs or bread crumbs

  • 1 egg

  • Half cup of vegetable oil

  • Salt, black pepper, cumin (optional)

  • Half a glass of water (for kneading the meatball mixture)

  • Ice cream bags

  • Soak the bulgur with hot water and wait for it to swell.
  • Put the minced meat into a bowl, add the grated onion, crushed garlic, breadcrumbs or bread crumbs, egg, vegetable oil and spices.
  • Knead the meatball mixture by adding the bulgur. If the mixture remains dry while kneading, adjust the consistency by slowly adding water.
  • Pick walnut sized pieces from the meatball mixture and roll them in your hands.
  • Place the prepared meatballs in ice cream bags in order and freeze them in an airtight container.
  • You can transfer the frozen meatballs into freezer bags and store them in the deep freezer.

Notes

  • Use Quality Ingredients: The key to flavour is in the quality of the ingredients used. You can increase the flavour of meatballs by using high quality ground beef, spring onions, garlic and spices.
  • Soak the Bulgur Well: Soak the bulgur well with hot water and wait for it to swell. This ensures that the meatballs have a more homogeneous texture.
  • Customise the Spices: Add your own touch to the meatballs by adding other spices other than those specified in the recipe. You can use spices such as cumin, chilli flakes or black pepper.
  • Kneading Technique: Knead the meatball mixture by wetting your hands while kneading. Wet hands help the mixture to take better shape without falling apart.
  • Freeze in Small Pieces: Divide the meatball mixture into small pieces and place them in freezer bags. This allows you to make only a few meatballs according to your needs.
  • Resting Before Freezing: After preparing the meatball mixture, let it rest in the refrigerator for a while. Thus, the spices mix better and the flavour settles well.
  • Cooking Tip: Before thawing the frozen meatballs, you can directly put them in the oven or lightly fry them in a pan. Thus, you get fresh meatball flavour in a fast and practical way.
  • Freezer Storage: To store meatballs in the freezer, create a neat organisation. You can make better use of your freezer space by placing the bags flat.
  • These tips will help you make your frozen meatball recipe more successful and delicious. Bon Appetit!
