Prep time

Cooking time

  • 500 g ground beef

  • 1 onion (grated)

  • 2 cloves of garlic (crushed)

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp red chilli powder (optional)

  • 4 burger buns

  • Lettuce, tomato slices, pickles (for serving)

  • Mix the ground beef, grated onion, crushed garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper and optional chilli powder in a large bowl.
  • Knead the mixture and shape the burger patties. Optionally, you can let the burger patties rest for a while in the refrigerator to allow the flavours to blend better.
  • Heat the grill pan or barbecue. Cook the patties until well browned on both sides. The cooking time usually varies between 10-12 minutes.
  • Lightly heat the burger buns on the grill or in the toaster.
  • Before serving, place lettuce on the bottom of the burger bun, top with the beef patties, tomato slices and pickles.

  • Meat Selection: Take care to use quality meat in your ground beef recipes. You can increase the flavour by choosing ground beef with a balanced fat and meat ratio.
  • Coldness of the Ingredients: It is important that the ingredients you use when making hamburgers or meatballs, especially extra ingredients such as butter, eggs and milk, are cold. This allows you to achieve a better result by preserving the flavour and texture of the meat.
  • A Little Breadcrumbs: You can use a small amount of breadcrumbs to hold your hamburger patties or other ground beef recipes together. However, be careful not to use too much, otherwise the texture of the minced meat may be damaged.
  • Worcestershire sauce: Adding Worcestershire sauce to your ground beef recipes is an excellent way to add a rich flavour to your meat. Be careful not to overdo it, however, as this can overpower the natural flavour of the meat.
  • Not kneading the mixture too much: When creating your meat mixture, be careful not to over-knead the mixture. Excessive kneading can disrupt the structure of the meat and consequently cause a firmer texture.
  • Cooking Temperature: When cooking burgers or meatballs, make sure that the internal temperature of the meat rises well with the heat. When the internal temperature is between 70-75°C, you can be sure that the meat is cooked safely.
  • By taking these tips into account, you can achieve more flavourful and successful results with your ground beef recipes. Happy cooking!
