  • 4 medium-sized Vidalia onions (grated or chopped)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 teacup balsamic vinegar

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • Salt and black pepper (optional)

  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth

  • 2 tbsp flour (optional, to thicken the sauce)


  • Heat the olive oil in a deep pan. Add the grated or chopped Vidalia onions and sauté over low heat until soft and no longer pink, about 10-15 minutes.
  • Add the balsamic vinegar and cook, stirring, for a few more minutes. Add the brown sugar, salt and pepper.
