  • 1 cup (225 grams) unsalted butter (at room temperature)

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanillin extract

  • 2 1/4 cups flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips

  • ½ cup walnuts or hazelnuts (optional)


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until creamy.
  • Add the eggs and mix well. Add the vanillin extract.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt. Add this mixture to the other mixture and mix until the mixture is homogenised.
  • Add Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips and optional walnuts or hazelnuts and mix.
  • Take walnut sized pieces from the dough and place them on the tray lined with greaseproof paper.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
  • Leave the cookies to cool on the tray for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack and let them cool completely.
