Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225 grams) unsalted butter (at room temperature)

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanillin extract

  • 2 1/4 cups flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips

  • ½ cup walnuts or hazelnuts (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until creamy.
  • Add the eggs and mix well. Add the vanillin extract.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt. Add this mixture to the other mixture and mix until the mixture is homogenised.
  • Add Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips and optional walnuts or hazelnuts and mix.
  • Take walnut sized pieces from the dough and place them on the tray lined with greaseproof paper.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
  • Leave the cookies to cool on the tray for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack and let them cool completely.

Notes

  • Butter should be at room temperature: Having your butter at room temperature increases the consistency and softness of the cookies. Therefore, it is important to bring the butter to room temperature as stated at the beginning of the recipe.
  • Measure the Flour Correctly: The flour measurement must be correct. When measuring the flour, fill the measure slightly and add without correction. Using too much flour can cause the cookies to be hard.
  • Distribute Chocolate Chips and Walnuts Evenly: Distributing both chocolate chips and walnuts evenly in the cookie provides a delicious balance in every bite.
  • Be Careful When Shaping the Dough: Take equal sized pieces from the dough and shape the cookies by rolling them smoothly with your hands. This ensures that the cookies bake evenly in the oven.
  • Bake Watch: The cookies cook in the oven in a short time, so follow the baking time exactly. Keep them in the oven until the edges are lightly browned, but avoid overcooking so the inside stays soft.
  • Prepare the baking tray: Lining the baking tray with greaseproof paper prevents the cookies from sticking and makes clean-up easier.
  • Follow the Cooling Process: Let the cookies cool on the tray for a few minutes. Then take them on a wire rack and wait for them to cool completely. This helps the cookies retain their consistency and flavour.
  • By following these tips, you can ensure that your Nestlé Toll House chocolate chip cookies are perfect. Bon appetit!
