Ingredients

  • 1 kg canned diced tomatoes

  • 3 cloves of garlic, crushed

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary

  • Half teaspoon salt

  • Half a teaspoon of black pepper

  • Half teaspoon sugar (optional)

Directions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large pot, then add the garlic and sauté over low heat until it starts to smell.
  • Add the canned diced tomatoes to the pot. Add salt, black pepper, dried oregano and rosemary. If you want to add sugar, you can add it at this stage.
  • Stir the mixture and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and continue to cook the sauce slowly, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook for about 30-40 minutes until your sauce has a thick consistency.
  • When the cooking time is over, remove the pot from the heat and allow the sauce to cool at room temperature.
  • Transfer the cooled sauce into a jar or tin and store in the refrigerator.
