Salporanz Cookie Recipe
200 grams butter (at room temp)
1 cup powdered sugar
½ cup of vegetable oil
1 packet of vanillin sugar
Half a packet of baking powder
1/2 cup starch
As much flour as it takes (depending on the size of the egg)
1 cup of pounded walnuts
½ cup raisins (optional)
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Put the butter and icing sugar into a mixing bowl and whisk well with a mixer.
- Add the egg and continue beating.
- Add vegetable oil, vanillin, sugar, baking powder and mix.
- Slowly add the flour and make a soft dough.
- Pick walnut sized pieces from the dough and roll them in the palm of your hand.
- Add pounded walnuts and optional raisins and shape them.
- Place the cookies on the baking tray with greaseproof paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven until lightly browned (about 15-20 minutes).
- Sprinkle the icing sugar over the hot cookies coming out of the oven.
- Room Temperature Ingredients: Having liquid ingredients such as butter and eggs at room temperature will help you better control the consistency and texture of the cookie. This is an important step for better mixing of the ingredients and obtaining a homogeneous dough.
- Check the Amount of Flour: Check the consistency of the dough by adding the amount of flour little by little. Make sure that the dough is not too hard or too soft. This ensures that the cookies have the desired consistency.
- Play with Walnuts and Grapes: Walnuts and grapes added to the recipe add a different touch and flavour to the cookie. Adding walnuts by chopping or pulling them coarsely provides a nice crunch in the cookie. The grapes balance the sweetness of the cookie and add a slightly sour taste.
- Follow the Cooking Time: The time spent in the oven determines the consistency of the cookies. Preheat the oven and bake your cookies for the specified time. Over baking can cause the cookies to dry out, so follow the baking time carefully.
- Don’t Forget the Cooling Phase: After the cookies come out of the oven, they should be left on the baking tray for a few minutes and then allowed to cool. This prevents the bottoms of the cookies from hardening and gives them an ideal texture.
- Decorate the top with icing sugar: By decorating the cooled cookies with icing sugar, you can both enhance their appearance and add a light touch to their sweetness. Either using a strainer or sprinkling powdered sugar with a spoon works well in this step.
- BON APPETİTE!
