Prep time

Cooking time

  • 4 shaved steaks

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  • 2 cloves of garlic (optional, grated or chopped)

  • Salt and black pepper (according to your taste)

  • Leave the steaks at room temperature and make sure that they are not too cold. This allows the meat to cook more evenly.
  • Add olive oil, grated garlic (if available) and salt and pepper to a bowl. You can use a brush to apply this mixture to your steaks.
  • Grease and season your steaks well on both sides with this mixture. While doing this, rub your steaks lightly to ensure that the ingredients penetrate the meat.
  • Heat the grill or frying pan over high heat. Place the steaks on a heatproof pan or grill.
  • Cook the steaks for about 3-4 minutes on the first side, or do not turn until they reach the desired degree of doneness.
  • Turn the steaks and cook the other side for the same amount of time. This may vary depending on whether you want the steaks medium rare or to your desired degree of doneness.
  • Leave the steaks to rest after cooking. The resting time will help the meat to retain its juices and become more flavourful.
  • Serve sliced and you can optionally serve with vegetables or mashed potatoes.

  • Keeping the meat at room temperature: Keeping the steaks at room temperature for a while after removing them from the refrigerator before cooking allows the meat to cook more evenly.
  • Quality of Olive Oil: Using cooking olive oil will add flavour to the steaks and help the meat to be more tender.
  • Feeding the Spices Thoroughly: It is important to thoroughly rub the mixture of olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper into the steaks. This ensures that all sides of the meat are flavoured.
  • Cooking at High Heat: Cooking the steaks quickly over high heat ensures that the outside gets a nice colour and the inside stays juicy.
  • Checking the Degree of Cooking: You can use a thermometer to check the degree of cooking of the steaks. Make sure that it is cooked medium-rare, medium or well done according to your preference.
  • Resting Time: Taking the cooked steaks from the pan or grill, covering them with aluminium foil and resting them for a few minutes prevents the juices inside the meat from dissipating and provides a more delicious result.
  • Thick Slicing: Cutting the steaks into thick slices before serving helps to distribute the heat homogeneously and preserve the flavour.
  • By following these tips, you can significantly improve the flavour and texture of your shaved steak recipe. Bon Appetit!
