  • 1 kg fresh strawberries (washed, de-stemmed and chopped)

  • 1 kg fresh strawberries (washed, de-stemmed and chopped)

  • 5 cups of granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • Wash the strawberries, remove the stems and cut into small pieces.
  • Add the chopped strawberries and fresh lemon juice to a saucepan. Start heating the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the strawberries release their juice and soften.
  • When the strawberries are soft, add the Sure Jell and stir to distribute it well.
  • Add all the sugar and cook over medium heat, stirring until the mixture starts to boil.
  • After the mixture boils, increase the heat to high and boil for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • After the mixture boils, remove it from the heat and pour it into the cleaned jars, removing the foam with a spoon. Cover the mouths of the jars with a clean cloth.
  • Turn the jars upside down and wait until they cool completely. After cooling, straighten the jars again and store them in a cool and dark place.

  • Quality Strawberry Selection: For a delicious strawberry jam, choose fresh and ripe strawberries. Remove the stems, wash and chop the strawberries.
  • Sure Jell Amount: It is important to stick to the recipe and use the right amount of Sure Jell. This regulates the consistency of the jam and allows it to gel.
  • The Role of Sugar: Sugar gives the jam the right consistency. Use the right amount of sugar according to the recipe and make sure that the sugar is completely dissolved after boiling the mixture.
  • Lemon Juice Contribution: Lemon juice helps to keep the strawberry jam fresh and bright in colour. In addition, lemon juice highlights the natural flavour of the strawberries.
  • Foam Removal: When the jam starts to boil, remove the foam that rises to the surface with a spoon to keep the jam clean and clear.
  • Sterilising the Jars: Clean the jars and lids well using hot water and soap. Sterilise the jars with boiling water before filling with jam.
  • Hot filling: Pour the jam into the jars when it is hot. This helps the jam to keep better and helps the jar lid to seal well.
  • Cooling Process: After filling the jars, immediately turn the jars upside down to allow them to cool. This helps to keep the jam in the jar in a vacuum.
  • Storage Conditions: Store in a cool and dark place. This will help the strawberry jam to retain its freshness and flavour for longer.
  • By following these tips, you can ensure that the strawberry jam you prepare using Sure Jell is more delicious and long-lasting. Happy cooking!
